Meet the Komodo Dragon

Komodo dragons are the largest lizards on Earth, with some reaching up to 10 feet in length.

Komodo dragons have a keen sense of smell, able to detect carrion from up to 5 miles away.

Their saliva is venomous, containing over 50 strains of bacteria that can cause a slow and painful death to their prey.

These powerful predators can run up to 13 mph in short bursts, surprising their prey with their speed.

Female Komodo dragons can reproduce without a mate, a process called parthenogenesis.

Despite their fierce reputation, Komodo dragons are skilled swimmers and have been known to cross open sea channels in search of food.
